Skipper and mate

Arnold and Pilou have been sailing the Zuiderzee for quite some time. It’s a well synchronized team. Sailing with guests on board is their work but also temporarily their hobby. They put their heart in what they do- taking care of their guests and of the ship. Arnold, the skipper, has always an open ear for the wishes of his guests. Pilou, a sailor, would also pleasantly surprise you with her cooking skills. She is also the one to explain how to hoist the sails and what “ go about” means.

Both Arnold and Pilou have all required certificates to sail Zuiderzee. Arnold has graduated from Enkhuizen Sailing School with the diploma of a helmsman. He is now busy getting his large watercraft licence. Pilou has both small and large watercraft licences. She has also graduated from the high School of Journalism in Utrecht.

 

   

Little crew Roman en Lila
Roman (1996) and Lila (1999) are Arnold’s children. They sail along if there are other children on board and they can tell a lot of stories about the ship and what papa went through on board of Zuiderzee (“Papa sailed once with the wind-force twelve, the waves were as high as two meters then”). Roman is an extremely good helmsman. We could easily let him steer for an hour or two. Lila is an entertainer. She can easily come up with a game to keep the children on board nicely busy. Scheepshond Boris zorgt voor heel wat goede stemming aan boord. Hij zeilt jaar in jaar uit mee met de Zuiderzee over het IJsselmeer, de Waddenzee en Friese meren.

Ship's dog Boris
Boris is our ship’s dog. Even people who are afraid of dogs can quickly spot his affectionate nature. He can spend the whole day letting himself being cuddled and caressed. It’s doesn’t come as surprise anymore when one of our guests wants to take him back home. Luckily for us, Boris stays on his ship, The Zuiderzee.
